Volcano photography is hard on camera equipment, and I have gone through a lot of it over the years. Basically, anytime I am wearing a respirator to keep the caustic fumes out of my lungs, my camera is being slowly destroyed.
At long last, I have put my film cameras away, opting for the latest in digital technology. I use Nikon cameras with lenses ranging from 16 mm to 500 mm. I use Redged and Gitzo tripods with the Acratech and Redged ballheads.
I use Clik Elite camera bags. They are the best made, and most comfortable of any camera bags available.
